I got my first doll house in 1982. By 2000 I quit counting at 200 houses. Not all of them are put together yet. Over 100 are still kits in the boxes. Since then I have continued to add to my collection and to give houses to kids that were not going to have a Christmas or birthday present.
In 2001 a new store opened in our area and we started putting our houses in her window for display. Every month I would change the display and people would actually stop in the middle of the street to see what houses we were putting in that month. During that time the shop owner would call and ask where did we get some item that was in our house and we would tell her we made it. She would ask us to make one for her customer, next thing we knew we were teaching classes to show them how to make those items. Some of our classes would have 4 generations in them and many had the kid and both parents.
When that shop owner wanted to advertise by setting up at miniature shows she ask us to work her table for her so she did not have to pay an employee to watch the store that day. We started half the table her stuff and half ours. Before long we needed two tables and started selling more of our stuff then her's so we still handed out her cards and that was how we got to be dealers.
In 2003 I got my license. My son started selling on ebay and has a store called Little Bit of This and I would sell at miniature shows as Linda Frye's Miniatures and really do enjoy that part. In 2007 my husband retired and we moved to our house in Ohio. After the summer of 2006 show in Dayton we bought The Three Blind Mice Show from Dee's Delights and the summer of 2007 was our first show as the new owners. After the success of that show and talking to many of the new vendors from this part of the country we heard from them that they would like to have more shows around the region. Since my family enjoyed the Dayton show so much we started getting information about putting on shows in other cities. In 2008 we expanded from the 1 show once a year to currently 8 shows in 5 different cities and more in the works. We will continue to expand to more shows and cities as long as the need and desire is there to have them. Please help us promote the shows in your area and Contact me about setting up a show in your area if there isn't one or perhaps was one in the past that is not there anymore. I love to hear from guest who attended the shows and their comments and suggestions.
